Though circumstances had deteriorated for the sons of Israel to the point where they no longer believed Moses, God has assured Moses that His mission was still a "Go!" Having given to Moses what is perhaps the greatest series of promises in the Pentateuch, He recommissions Moses and Aaron, and finally puts to rest the objections that Moses has held on to since he left Midian for Egypt.
